Evaporation and removal are two jobs
Air movers accelerate evaporation at the material surface. Dehumidifiers remove that moisture from the air. Running fans alone simply relocates water vapour within the building.
Balanced conditions matter
Temperature, humidity and airflow interact. If humidity climbs while air moves quickly, moisture can redeposit on cooler surfaces elsewhere.
Reading the numbers
Moisture content readings are compared against unaffected materials of the same type in the same building, which gives a realistic target rather than an arbitrary number.
- Baseline readings are taken before drying begins
- Readings are logged per area, per visit
- A plateau usually signals a change is needed
