Before anything is moved
Photograph the affected area, the source if visible, and any damaged contents. Note the date and time the damage was discovered.
During restoration
Moisture readings by area and date, equipment placement, containment and materials removed should all be recorded as work proceeds.
- Keep receipts for emergency purchases
- Retain an inventory of affected contents
- Record who accessed the property and when
At completion
Final readings, photographs of the dried and cleaned area, and a summary of the work completed close out the file.
